AQUATIC FACILITIES

The Parks and Recreation Department operates the City Pool at Independence Park on a seasonal basis (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and the Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium.


City Pool at Independence Park

The City Pool is located in Independence Park, 3919 Liberty Drive. Operated by the Parks and Recreation Department, the City Pool has Open and Lap Swim times, Swimming Lessons, and is available for private rental for Pool Parties.

  Monday –Friday Noon – 5 p.m. & 8 – 10 p.m.
June 4 – August 22 Saturday – Sunday Noon – 7 p.m.
August 28 -29 Lap Swim  
  Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 7 to 8 p.m.
September 4, 5, 6   11 a.m. – Noon
  Special Hours  
  Memorial Day (May 31) Noon – 7 p.m.
  Independence Day (July 4) Noon – 7 p.m.
  Labor Day (Labor Day) Noon – 7 p.m.

Entry Fee

The entry fee to use the City Pool is $1 for participants aged 7 and Older. There is no charge for children 6 and under in age.

Swimming Lessons

All swimming lessons are provided by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. We offer classes for all ages including Parent/Child (6 months through 3 years), Preschool classes (4-5 years), and Learn-to-Swim Levels 1 through 6 for children 6 and older as well as lessons geared specifically for Adults.

Certification Classes

The Parks and Recreation Department offers several different aquatics –related certification classes. We offer American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Lifeguard Review, Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor courses. Participants must meet specific swimming prerequisites for each course.

Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium

The Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium is located at 4141 Bailey Road. The Natatorium will house two pools. The Competition Pool (50 meters x 25 yards) can be set in seven different configurations for recreational/lap swim, long and short course swim meets, water polo, competition diving and synchronized swimming. The Warm-Up Pool (25 yards wide by 4 lanes wide) is a shallow pool with a zero-depth entry. It is used primarily for water exercise classes, swimming lessons, and therapeutic recreation.

The Natatorium is available for short term or long term rentals/lease. Short term rentals include activities such as birthday parties, swimming and diving meets and water polo tournaments. Sections of the facility will also be available for long-term lease for club swim/dive teams as well as governmental and other nonprofit organizations.
