ABOUT
The Melvin Knapp Senior Center is a recreation facility for active adults 50 years of age and older. The center is operated by Pearland Parks and Recreation and offers a variety of programs, dances, activities, trips and classes that are either low-cost or absolutely free. Membership to the center is free for Pearland residents and just $25 a year for non-residents.

The facility includes a fitness room complete with three treadmills, two stationary bikes and a weightlifting machine. The center also features a computer lab with four computers and internet access. Other amenities include rooms for crafting, games exercise and quilting. The building's multipurpose room is used for dancing, socializing, dining and much more.

ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMS
There is something for everyone at the Knapp Center. We encourage you to drop in and take classes, exercise or just socialize with friends. If you play cards (Skip-Bo, Phase 10, Pinochle, etc.), dominos or other table games, we offer them all each day for your enjoyment. The center also sponsors trips and hosts educational workshops on a number of topics. All scheduled activities are subject to be changed or canceled. Please call 281.485.9875 for questions.

NEWSLETTER
The Knapp Center publishes a free monthly newsletter called Knapp Happenings. Copies are available at the facility and can be downloaded from this site. However, if you experience problems with printing a copy from the website please call the center at 281.485.9875, give us your email address and we will be more than happy to send one to you.

DANCES
Dances on the first or second Friday of every month from 7-10 p.m. The cost is $5 per person and, while no alcohol is allowed, you are encouraged to bring a snack to share. For more information on dances, click here or call 281.485.9875.

TRIPS
All trips require advance registration either in person or over the phone and must be paid for at the time of registration unless otherwise noted. Trip details are subject to change without notice depending on the circumstance. Should a trip be cancelled, a full refund will be given. No refunds will be issued unless the trip is cancelled by the Knapp Center staff. Please remember that trips fill up quickly so please sign up early. MEALS
Lunch is the only meal served at the center and it is provided by ActionS, a Brazoria County organization. Lunches are served daily at approximately 11:30 a.m. and require a reservation with the center by 10 a.m. the day before you plan to have lunch. Those wishing to utilize the lunch program must also be approved through ActionS in order to receive lunch. The ActionS  program requires that you be 60+ years of age and reside in Brazoria County.
