Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation’s official Parks and Recreation Month. This July we are encouraging you and your family to GET WILD about parks and recreation!
Everything from wild workouts and wellness to getting wet and wild at the pool or even wild with nature – you just can’t help but have fun this July, all while exploring the many valuable benefits of parks and recreation!
We know you are wild about parks and recreation, so this July during Park and Recreation Month, come GET WILD with us!
There are three ways to get involved:
CORKS AND CANVAS ART SHOW
Pearland Parks & Recreation is hosting a Corks & Canvas art show at the Pearland Recreation Center and Natatorium that will feature photographs of City of Pearland Parks. The art show will open on Saturday, July 7 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Recreation Center and Natatorium and the artwork will continue to be on display from June 24 to July 28. Click here for more information on submission requirements.
PARKS AND RECREATION BINGO
The Bingo game will start July 1 and end July 31. Cards may be picked up from the Summer Concerts or at the Recreation Center & Natatorium. You can also click here to download a bingo card.
To participate, attend the activities in each square and take a picture doing the activity in an attempt to get a BINGO (see below for details) during the month of July! If you need help finding the locations, use this Web site as a resource. Once bingo is achieved participants will need to turn in the completed card with pictures to the Recreation Center & Natatorium by July 31 to win a prize! Winners will be announced by August.
All pictures should be submitted on a non-returnable disk. Be sure to be creative and have fun with it!
A typical bingo is a straight line of five squares in a row going vertical, diagonal, or horizontal. Other variations consist of making letters, four corners or even filling up the whole card also known as a black out.
For this bingo game the goal is to get a “P” bingo or a black out for the grand prizes. Diagonal, vertical, or horizontal bingos will also be accepted.
The first 50 entries will receive a prize. A special prize will be awarded to the first participant to turn in a ‘P’ bingo, and the grand prize will be awarded to the first participant to turn in a “blackout,” which covers every square on the board.
